What type of Actors Intro to film

The Movie that I choose to discuss is When Harry met Sally. The first actor that I would like to talk about is Billy Crystal I think that Billy Crystal is a wild card actor he can be serious and then he can be a comedian. Most of the films that he has been in such as when Harry Met Sally he is a comedian at times and then he is also serious In the movie City Slickers he is always cracking jokes and not acting serious at all.

Meg Ryan is also a wild card actor she is cast in serious rolls but she is also cast in romantic comedies and she can play the roll of being very strict and goal orientated. Meg Ryan in sleepless in Seattle was very goal orientated and was a helpless romantic in you got mail she is a book store owner and is also very goal orientated and then ends up falling in love which happens in most of her movies.

Carrie Fisher has been in many different rolls and I would have to say that she is a wild card actor. She was in all of the star wars movies and was very up tight as princess lea she had to be in control of the situation and she acted very prudish. In When Harry Met Sally she played the roll of Sally’s friend however she was not prudish and was very out going. All of the Actors in when Harry Met Sally did played there rolls very well and never let you down in there roles that they played.

Sound and Sound effects of a movie

The movie clip that I wanted to blog about is the Omaha Beach Scene from Saving Private Ryan. A lot of the sound that you hear is of bullets that are hitting the metal which this would be a sound affect. You also hear the ocean in the back ground with the waves hitting the beach and the water hitting the side of the boats that are used during the landing. This type of sound would be right from were the scene was filmed. There is not a lot of back ground music that is being played during this scene. You are hearing a lot of sound effects and sounds that are coming from within the film. With the sounds that you hear during the movie you feel like you are right there with in the movie the bullets that are hitting off of the metal and hitting the soldiers it sets the mood for being very heighten feeling like you need to do something and also of fear because you want them to get out of the way and not stay were they are at. The sounds of the bullets hitting and people screaming you can tell that this is an action genre or a war movie. The sounds that are in the movie are very realistic and make you feel what they are feeling with fear or anxiety because you are being shot at and on constant heighten senses. This is better because if they used unrealistic sounds that would not be part of the real world that the film is based off you would not feel what the actors are portraying. If you would remove the sounds of the bullets or the sound of the tanks or vehicles from the film then that would change how you felt you would not feel the heighten sense of awareness or would not feel that you were right there with the actors    

Intro to film lighting

In  the movie when Harry met Sally since it is a romantic genre there is a lot of lighting that is used. You can see that a they use the traditional high point lighting. Since this move is a romantic genre then there is a lot of lighting so that you are able to see the actors better and less of the back round. I think that with this type of lighting you are able to see everything that is going on and all of the expressions of the actors. With this lighting it also brings out the colors very bright and makes you feel like you are right there in the scene.  

intro to film blog one week one

The movie that I decided to watch was when Harry met Sally with Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. This film was directed by Rob Reiner and written by Nora Ephron. The year that this film was released was 1989.

When Harry met Sally, Harry and Sally meet and share a sixteen hour car ride after they both graduate college from Chicago to New York. While on the ride they decide that men and women are not able to be friends because sex always comes into play into the relationship and that is why men and women can not be  friends. Now Sally disagrees with Harry’s statement but once they arrive in New York they both go there separate ways and  do not see each other again for five years when they are both at the airport. Now Harry does not recognize Sally but does recognize the man that Sally is kissing. Once they are both on the plane Harry is seating behind Sally onto the plain. Harry finally speaks with Sally and they began to talk again, Harry tells Sally that he is getting married and that he is so thankful because he is tired of being in the single game. Once off of the plane again Harry tells Sally that men and women are not able to be friends because again both parties are thinking about sex. They both there separate ways and do not see each other gain until five years later in a book store. This time you can tell that both of them have changed and that they may have grown. Harry tells Sally that he is going through a divorce and she tells him that her and joe are broken up. This time they stay together as friends and end up talking with each other and hanging out as friends do. Later on they end up having sex and everything does change and becomes weird. Now Harry tries to apologize to Sally but she will not have anything to do with his apology. During New Years eve she goes to a party with out Harry and you see that Sally is having a terrible time and so is Harry having a terrible time. Harry relizes that he loves Sally and that he wants to be with her. He shows up at the part and tells her that he loves her and everything about her. Sally is upset and tells Harry that it is these things that he does that makes it hard for her to hate him. It closes with both of them sitting on the couch talking about their wedding and how everything went. The film was in chronological order it started off from graduation of college and then moving through time in two five year segments and keeps going through step by step. I think that this contributed to the audience because it followed both of them through time and you were able to connect with them because you seen them grow and go through things. I think that if the film followed a different order not chronological then it would not have been as good you would not have connected with the characters and feel what they both went through and how they feel in love
